Do you really need a website for your business?

Well, the short and long answer is Ooh, YES! now, let’s find out why.

Unless you are a small business owner who is not interested in growing the business, you need to have a website.

As one of my mentors, Bill Gates said, “if your business is not on the internet, then you will be out of business”. It’s a little bit uhh…. but it does make sense.

So, in this article, I will be showing you the importance of having a website, and how you can get one to work for your brand.

Here are the 10 reasons why your business should have a website:

It gives credibility to your business

In this 21st century having a good website directly boosts your credibility as a legitimate business. According to a study, 56% of people stated that they won’t trust a business without a website, including myself, when you tell me about your business the first thing I do is Google it, to see how reputable it is in the market and if it is not online I begin to ask lots of questions, that you will give up talking about it.

It is a truism, that first impressions do count, and a good website provides a good and strong one for your business, with a well-structured and designed introduction, of course. Ask yourself this, would you trust a business that didn’t have a website?

A website can be your number one tool for standing out in a crowd.

It gives access to and attracts new customers

To explain this, let me state a fact; a website can be available 24/7/365 even when you or your store is not. It acts as your always-available business proponent during and outside of working hours. Research states that 81% of people research a business or service online before making a purchase, so if you do not have a website to support you in this case, you have no chance in the share of this market.

It is good to know that, most people still do their research even when they are already your customers and stack you against your competitors. So, in order to expand your reach you need to have one or find a way to put yourself out there.

It provides social proof

Another stat, 90% of consumers claim that online reviews and testimonials influence their buying decisions. So, where is the best way to show and collect all the reviews and testimonies? Your website with all your details at the customer’s disposal, in other words, killing two birds with one stone.

It allows you to control the narrative and also gives you control

It allows you to position yourself in the market to get the exact type of customers your business needs. While it’s true that you cannot control what people say about your business on social media platforms, you can influence public perception by creating your own story through your website, in a way these platforms cannot.

You can get your message, mission, and personality in front of the target audience faster than any print ads and opportunity for users (satisfied customers or consumers) to share your content that they enjoy on their social media page via social media integration on your website.

Showcase your products and services

With a well-designed website, you can display your products and also sell directly online or outline your services in detail with beautiful images, and you can provide short video tutorials or downloadable PDF instructions to give hesitant customers no reason to go elsewhere to purchase.

Your business gets to show up on Google

You probably got to this page from a Google search result page. Imagine a potential customer searching on Google for their daily need and your business website found its way to the top of the list, how cool is that? That is the opportunity a business website could provide.

Going back on one of the previous stat, imagine the 81% of the consumers that perform their online research before making a purchase using Google. That means they go to Google and type in what they are looking for (Keywords) like “best graphic designer” or “best weight loss product”.

If you don’t have a website for your business, the chances of showing up on the search result page (SERP) are zero. In contrast, if you do have a website and are properly optimized for search engines, including Bings, Yahoo, etc. you are increasing your chances of appearing at the top of the results page and getting more visibility with potential customers.

A resource center for your staff

In addition to helping customers, your business website can also benefit your employees.

Just create a page or pages that are not visible anywhere on the website so it can’t be found unless someone is given the direct link (or authenticated) with self-service videos, instructional materials, or even internal forms to help your team learn everything they need to know on their schedules.

It saves time

Your business website can save you lots of time by providing answers to common customer questions and inquiries. Also, whether you are taking calls, trading emails, or sending out proposals, all these take time, with a detailed website you can spend more time doing more valuable things.

It provides you with analytical data

I mentioned briefly optimizing a website earlier as one of the reasons. With a well-optimized website, you can get where your customers are coming from, what device they are using, which of your content they like, their age, gender, etc. which can help you make better decisions and show you where to focus your strength.

It’s great to have one.

So, to wrap this up, I believe not everyone needs a website, but I will also like to believe I’ve shown you the reasons why a business needs a website. Therefore, if you are going to do one thing now to help your business grow more and be more successful, it’s to make getting a website your top priority.
